I hope that this email finds you well during this time. I wanted to highlight the measures that council is taking to protect our community, shared in Pastor Al's message today.
Last night, the council agreed to extend our service cancellation through Easter (4/12). This is a decision that was made in light of the spread that we are seeing in Washington, and under the guidance and recommendation of the Oregon Synod. In a letter dated 3/16, the Synod's disaster response team recommended that worship services be cancelled for the next 4 to 8 weeks, http://oregonsynod.org/index.php/3-16-20-disaster-response-team-email/. While obviously saddened to make this decision, we felt it right to do our part to prevent the spread of this virus. The council and executive team will keep our pulse on this pandemic and evaluate further extensions early next month. Rest well that council is taking advantage of technology to hold meetings remotely.
In addition, this cancellation also applies to all gatherings at SOV until Easter. This unfortunately includes our spring clean up day, and the community easter egg hunt (which was a huge success last year). The council is thinking about ways that you can creatively be involved at SOV while keeping at safe distances. Keep an eye out for those opportunities as they arise.
Thank you for your understanding and be well.
SOV Council President
