Brenda Sue Plinke was born on the 21st of August 1959 to Victor and Ida Faulstick in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She passed away at home in Oregon surrounded by the love of her husband, Ken Plinke and children, Wesley, Hayden and Chelsea.

Brenda was a light in the world. In both her professional and personal life she was a beacon of compassion and love.  She attended high school in Emmetsburg. She was a student athlete at Iowa Lakes College and transferred first to South Dakota State University and then finished her nursing degree at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. Brenda remained in the pacific northwest upon completion of her nursing degree. She loved caring for patients and worked at several hospitals in both Washington and Oregon.

Brenda had 5 siblings. Louise Sprague of Jacksonville, OR. Julie Meyers of Newport, OR. Roger Faulstick of Emmetsburg, IA. Jeff Faulstick of Redmond, WA. Steve Faulstick of Vancouver, WA. She met her husband, Ken, in Medford, OR and was married to him at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Emmetsburg in 1987.

Brenda was an 18 year breast cancer survivor. Though the disease was impactful upon her life, it did not define her life. Rather, it became a stepping stone for awareness and hope. She was the inspiration for “B The Light”, a support charity not only for breast cancer families but any family that had various struggles.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday May 12th, 2:00 p.m. pacific time at —
