"…who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night…." Jeremiah 31:35
Nothing new here, just continuing to revel in the beauty of these fall days and night. They have been nothing short of perfect. Even now the back yard is bathed in a gentle silver light. Great cause to give thanks in the face of any worries and doubts. Thank you Lord!
Also taking note that from sundown yesterday to sundown tonight is the high Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the most important day of the Jewish year. A day of fasting, prayers and repentance, and in the end joy, because of God's forgiveness. A time to start anew spiritually.
May the blessings of these days enable us to do the same.
"Gracious God, we thank you for your providential grace at work in our lives and in our world. We rest in the knowledge that when all seems out of control, you are still God of the universe. When life seems chaotic, we find order in you. When evil appears to have the upper hand, your goodness is not threatened. When violence shakes the foundation of our lives together, you still come in peace. Lord give us patience, faith and hope. Amen."
