Curriculum

At Kids of the Kingdom Christian Preschool and Kindergarten, our focus is learning about God and his love for children.

In our Preschool 3's and 4's class, your child will:

• Learn of God's love for them through Jesus, how creation is for their pleasure, and how God has made them creators too
• Learn about how we talk to God through prayer and the many forms it takes and attend Chapel with our Pastor
• Listen to and act out stories and learn about the sequence of events
• Develop good listening skills and learn to interact at group meetings
• Develop empathy and practice taking turns as they work together in small groups or at learning centers
• Be creative and learn to express themselves through their art work
• Develop self-confidence as they learn to make choices and discover new things
• Learn self-control as they work together toward a common goal
• Learn finger plays and songs along with rhythm and movement
• Learn to recognize letters, sounds words and practice handwriting
• Learn to sort, sequence, pattern by size, shape, color and weight
• Participate in cooking activities and see changes occur

In our PreK and Kindergarten classes:

• Children will learn of God's love for them, how to talk to God and attend weekly Chapel.
• Children will develop phonemic awareness, alphabet knowledge, letter/sound relationships, and comprehension skills through a variety of activities including rhyming games, singing, chanting, listening to alliterative and rhyming stories, word games, tactile letters, abc books, movement activities, dramatic re-enactments, sequencing activities, and group interactions.
• Children will develop reading ability by learning sight words, decoding words, and working with word families.
• Children will develop number sense including rote counting, one-to-one correspondence, patterning, sorting, classifying, number identification, number sets, time, money, and simple regrouping through use of manipulatives, counting games, finger plays, building, daily calendar math, and dramatic play.
• Children will develop writing skills through guided writing activities, contributing to class books and making regular journal entries.
• Children will participate in science and cooking activities.
• Children will learn about and enjoy God's natural world during outside play and walks in nearby nature park.
• Children will have the opportunity to explore several art media and be creative.
• Children will have the opportunity to participate in structured indoor large motor activities including yoga, balance activities and parachute play.
• Children will have the opportunity to explore, wonder, and investigate as they complete a small research project.

In our Two's Time class, your child and you will:

• Learn about God's love for them
• Attend Chapel with Pastor monthly
• Engage in play in a variety of interest areas with guided curriculum
• Enjoy stories, songs and finger plays at circle time
• Make new friends
• Make art with a variety of materials
• Enjoy tumbling indoors and outside play in a large fenced playground
