Pastor Randy Schutt accepts call
March 15, 2009

Pastor Randy Schutt has accepted our pastoral call. Please welcome him to the Shepherd of the Valley family as he joins us for worship Sunday, May 10, 2009, then begins leading worship Sunday, May 17, 2009.

Welcome Pastor Randy Schutt

SOV Call Committee
February 23, 2009

On Sunday, February 22nd, the congregation voted 82 in favor with 3 nay votes to extend a Call to Pastor Randall Schutt to become the pastor of Shepherd of the Valley.

Pastor Schutt has thirty days upon receipt of the paperwork from the Oregon ELCA Synod to accept or reject the call.

While we have no reason to believe Pastor Schutt will not accept the call we would request that you continue to pray for Pastor Schutt and wife Choice as they make their decision.

Blessings,

Your SOV Call Committee

Call Process in the Oregon Synod

Diane Lewis, Council President
February 09, 2009

Dear members of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church,

The Council of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church has approved the nomination from the Call committee to call Pastor Randall Schutt to be our new pastor. The Executive committee and the Council approved for congregational vote, the proposed salary and benefit package that has been discussed with Pastor Schutt and the Call committee.

As President, I am calling for a Shepherd of the Valley congregational meeting, Sunday, February 22 at 12:15 PM, to vote on extending a pastoral “Call” to Pastor Randall Schutt, with a second vote to accept the proposed salary and benefit package.

Childcare will be provided during the business meeting.

This will be the only order of business that will be on the agenda for this meeting. All members will sign in a written log before the voting takes place. Per the constitution, only adult and confirmed members will be eligible to vote and there will be no proxy votes.

The order of business will include:
1. The President will call the meeting to order.
2. A quorum of the congregation membership will be verified.
3. A motion to call Pastor Randall Schutt will be made, seconded, discussion to follow ending with a call for the vote.
4. The vote will take place by written secret ballot.
5. The votes will be tabulated and the detailed count will be announced. The vote will pass with two-thirds majority of the members present.
6. If the vote to Call Pastor Randall Schutt is passed then we will proceed with the proposed salary and benefit package.
7. A motion to accept the salary and benefit package will be made and seconded, discussion to follow, ending with a call for vote. The vote will be by a show of hands. This will pass with a simple majority vote.
8. The meeting adjourns.

As we prepare for this important meeting to determine how we go forward together in Christ for the ministry of our congregation, I ask that each member continue to pray for our congregation and for Pastor Schutt as we work together in this special “Call” process for Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

We have been on an amazing journey these last two years. Our congregation has come together in ways we never imagined for reasons we never imagined. God has been present, has given us who and what we have needed and we have learned first hand what it means to be “One in the Spirit”. As a family in Christ, we have the assurance that we have unity through the love of God and the ability to work through life’s challenges because He is always with us.

If you have any questions regarding this congregational meeting, please contact Pastor Michelle or anyone on your SOV council.

May the peace of the Lord be with each of us as we prepare to gather for this important meeting on Sunday, February 22, 2009.

In Christ’s service,

Diane Lewis
Council President
